Are Colleges Safe?

Recently it has come to my attention that Manhattan Area Technical College has been having more problems than just low enrollment.
A student at the college has come to the result of quitting due to abuse by the student body. The abuse, both physical and emotional, has been somehow oblivious to the college; or at least not handled properly.
A school is meant as a learning institution and a gateway to our children's future. Why then are so many rights taken away due to other students behavior? Safety is suppose to be paid for when paying tuition. However, in more cases than not, our colleges lack the power or even the care to do something about these situations.
Not only is abuse a problem in our universities and colleges across the United States a problem, but so are rapes. A study by the National Victim Center in 1992 reported that one in four women on college campuses have been raped or suffered attempted rape.
Our children are at great danger while many colleges, like MATC, are doing nothing about it
